Many of the Sohmas return Tohru's gesture with friendship, and these tight bonds are what give the Sohmas and Tohru hope that the zodiac curse can be broken once and for all, setting these friends free. Who ranks at the top of Tohru's inner circle? At first, the snake member of the zodiac, Ayame Sohma, came on rather strongly, and Tohru was mildly alarmed by Ayame's flamboyant and eccentric ways. Ultimately, though, the robe-wearing Ayame meant no harm. In fact, his 1 goal is to heal his relationship with his younger brother, Yuki Sohma.
Ayame is quite fond of Tohru, and more than once, he wanted to dress her up in lovely clothes to bring out her true beauty. Tohru isn't terribly vain, but she was flattered by the attention all the same.
Hatsuharu is the ox member of the Chinese zodiac, and like a black and white cow, he has a light side and a dark side and is generally stubborn and persistent. Hatsuharu didn't think much of Tohru at first, but he soon realized that she is a kind and wonderful person, and changed his opinion of her for the better.
Hatsuharu and Tohru aren't exactly joined at the hip, but then again, they do have mutual respect, and Tohru is highly supportive of Hatsuharu's love life and quest to find true happiness. Hatsuharu is grateful for the support. At first, the hot-headed Kagura Sohma viewed Tohru as a love rival, since both girls had an invested interest in the cat-based Kyo Sohma.
These girls accepted Kyo for who he was, strengths and weaknesses alike , and Kagura was feeling jealous. But not for long. Kagura had her own personal baggage to work through, and Tohru was there to help.
Just like Tohru loved the Zodiac Cat since she was small, Kyo fostered his own interest in Tohru when he was a child. This is probably one of the biggest giveaways since it indicates that Yuki recognizes Tohru's fondness for Kyo and signals an understanding that he isn't in love with Tohru himself. Yuki previously expressed irritation with Kyo's treatment of Tohru, and he usually stepped in to soothe Tohru himself instead of leaving it to Kyo.
But after he recognizes Tohru's love for Kyo, Yuki starts expecting Kyo to be the one to make things right instead of stepping in on his own. Although Kagura's interest in Kyo was born from a desire to feel better about her own circumstances, Kagura did eventually fall in love with Kyo.
She adamantly insists that she'll never give up on Kyo and thinks that no one could understand him like she does, since she's also seen his true form.
But after seeing Kyo become gentler and more level-headed through his interactions with Tohru, Kagura realizes she's lost him. She steps aside for Tohru but also insists she'll never give up her feelings for Kyo. Kyo is rarely a welcome guest when it comes to the Zodiac members spending time with Akito, so he's frequently left out.
Tohru usually spends time with him instead, so he won't feel alone. A key moment occurs when Tohru and Kyo are at the Sohma summer home during summer vacation. Akito sees Tohru and Kyo together and realizes that Tohru is effecting positive changes in Kyo, so she decides to put Kyo back in his place.
When Kyo meets with Akito, he realizes how much he loves Tohru, initiating the acceptance of his feelings. But I am leaning toward Kyo. Panda said: Yuki, Kyo, and Momiji all love Tohru. Tohru tells Kyo that she loves him and he rejects her only to find out that he loves her as well. Later Momiji tells Kyo that he's going to propose Tohru if he doesn't.
In the end Kyo and Tohru get married and have a son and later have a granddaughter. In the manga she chose Kyo. I like the anime's ending because she didn't leave either alone.
Yuki told Tohru to tell Kyo the truth so they could probably all stay together. ZombieKitten22 said: In this case the Anime is not something you can really pull anything from it finishes half assed and in a confusing manner. In the anime it leaves a sort of Love triangle type feel It was not as good as the manga either.
In the Manga however Kyo and Tohru end up together in the end. While Tohru doesn't realize that Yuki is the boy who helped her, she still remembers the occasion fondly and cherishes the hat. Conversely, the hat used to belong to Kyo, but he stopped wanting it when Yuki touched it; at that point, the two boys hated one another, each believing the other was responsible for their misfortune.
Already from childhood, the fates of the three characters were closely linked and the hat symbolizes that. Unlike Yuki, Kyo initially seems to be more of a "bad boy" type and it takes a lot for Tohru to discover his hidden depths. The idea of a kind-hearted female character helping a troubled boy through her own emotional labor is, of course, another romance trope, about as frequent as that of an awkward girl ending up with a princely type.
But the relationship between Tohru and Kyo, while looking like this on the surface, is actually healthier and more complex. Many fans wanted Tohru to end up with Yuki, which is normal since he's a brilliant character with hidden depths of his own. However, Tohru eventually ends up with Kyo and they remain together until old age.
This might be a surprise for some fans, but if you read or watch carefully, it actually makes a lot of sense. A reread or rewatch will even reveal that what many consider as a love triangle was barely there in the first place. Yuki does save Tohru, first as a child and then as a teenager, in what seems like a princely gesture. He even seems to flirt with her, at a time when Kyo is still acting cold or annoyed around her.
Even so, Yuki's romantic-coded gestures towards Tohru will often feel like textbook romance, rather than genuine attraction. Two-thirds into the story, we understand why. As a child, Yuki was severely traumatized by Akito's physical and psychological abuse.
Yuki's mother was happy to abandon her son, forcing him to be Akito's playmate and reaping the monetary benefits. As a result, Yuki never experienced motherly love.
