Have you also researched the jet pack itself in the second tab of the research station? Jet Pack and Mission Report? The Jet Pack is awesome!!! But I've noticed that you don't get a mission report while it's enabled, then it pops up when you disable the JP with J Jet pack bug after dying.
After dying using jet pack on the mode where you drop your gear , the jetpack is permanently "stuck" on and can't be turned forcing me restart the game Once you're in that mode, the game holds off on making the flying to walking transition. The jet pack bug OP mentions is an extreme case of that. I imagine pack just stops doing any upwards delta no accelerating up and no automatic fall damping. You still have low damping on movement as though the jet pack still worked No jet pack fix!??
